/bhAva / भाव

In Sanskrit, the word /bhAva means "state", "mood", or "action". It has several technical meanings in grammar too.

  1. /bhAva may mean action noun, so **pAkas पाकस् "act or result of cooking" is a /bhAva.
  2. An objectless verb is said to be "bhAve भावे" ("to mean the action", "to be impersonal") when it shows nothing.
