@eye beats ear principle

Whatever students see in writing, whatever, sticks to their memory about a hundred times harder and sooner than whatever they hear.

Example. It does not matter how many times you tell your students that zAntizzAntiH शान्तिःशान्तिः must be spelled zAntizzAntiH शान्तिःशान्तिः but pronounced zAntizzAntiHI शान्तिःशान्तिःई. Whenever they see zAntizzAntiH शान्तिःशान्तिः in print, they will FIRST say zAntiH शान्तिः zAntiH शान्तिः or zAntizAnti शान्तिशान्ति, and afterwards they will maybe remember what you taught them and correct themsalves and say zAntizzAntiHI शान्तिःशान्तिःई.

The best way to avoid this effect is never showing them the spelling of anything you're not sure they are already USED TO say correctly.
