So the /gotra of gargaH गर्गः is **gArgyas गार्ग्यस् (with /yaJ), and, adding another affix (/phak) to that /gotra, we get the /yuvan **gArgyAyaNa- गार्ग्यायणॱ.

And from dakSaH दक्षः we get **dAkSi- दाक्षिॱ with /iJ (/gotra) and dAkSAyaNaH दाक्षायणः (/yuvan).

But the female descendants are not going to inherit anything (they will marry away), so they are never /yuvan. Consequently, the sisters of dAkSiH दाक्षिः and dAkSAyaNaH दाक्षायणः are both called dAkSI दाक्षी.
