@Q and A about jhontaH

I have a doubt. Is the jh झ् mentioned in jhontaH a labelletter?

It is not. Labelletters can never be replaced with real letters. The jh झ् is perfectly real, but it always becomes replaced with something else by some rule or other before it makes it into a real word.

You are contradicting sUtra cuTU, which teaches jh झ् to be a labelletter.

Oopsie sorry. I forgot. Okay, you win. jh झ् is a labelletter and it shows that ant अन्त् or at अत् must be added in front of the affix. Similarly, the letters mentioned in ThasyekaH and AyaneyIn... are labelletters too.

Why is this sUtra worded as jhontaH, with an a ?

It should have been jhont झोन्त्, but the a is added FEOP.

Why is this sUtra not worded as jhasyAntaH, with sixth after jha- झॱ?

pANini uses first instead of sixth sometimes.
