In a sUtra, the seventh ending may mean "before".

AFI, the seventh case aci अचि in sUtra ikoyaNaci means "before an /ac". There the regular meaning, "in a vowel", would be nonsense.

The seventh case in sUtras may also mean "when meaning", "in case of" (as in saJjJAyAm "when the meaning is a tag" or in saMsRSTe "when it means mixed").

It can also have its regular meaning of "in" (as in abhyAsecarca, "inside an abhyAsa").
