uraH-prabhRtibhyaH kap

उरःॱप्रभृतिभ्यः कप् ONPANINI 54151

Add /kap after the uras उरस्-class (when ifc in a /bahuvrIhi).

So we say:

vyUDham uro 'sya व्यूढमुरो ऽस्य
vyUDha- व्यूढॱ + uras- उरस् + /kap + /su
vyUDhoraskaH व्यूढोरस्कः "wide-breasted" (not *vyUdhorAH व्यूधोराः)

When the ifc word is not uras उरस्-class, the /kap will usually be optional by zeSAdvibhASA >>>

vyUdha-manaskaH व्यूधॱमनस्कः "wide-minded" /

vyUdha-manAH व्यूधॱमनाः "wide-minded"

vyUdha-manAH व्यूधॱमनाः "wide-minded"

The uraHprabhRtayaH उरःप्रभृतयः (uras उरस्-class words) are —

uras | sarpis | upAnah | pumAn |
उरस्। सर्पिस्। उपानह्। पुमान्।

anaDvAn | payas | nauH | lakSmIH |
अनड्वान्। पयस्। नौः । लक्ष्मीः ।

dadhi | madhu | zAli | artha ||
दधि । मधु । शालि । अर्थ ॥

artha अर्थ is uras-class उरस्च्लःस् only after /naJ' — so we say

!**anarthakaH अनर्थकः "purposeless".

pumAn | anaDvAn | payas | nauH | lakSmIH पुमान्। अनड्वान्। पयस्। नौः । लक्ष्मीः are uras उरस्-class only when they mean one thing. So —

ekapuMskaH एकपुंस्कः "that has one man", no option.

vyUDhoraskaH व्यूढोरस्कः "that has one wide breast", no option

But otherwise the /kap will be optional by zeSAdvibhASA >>>

dvipumAn द्विपुमान् / dvipuMskaH
द्विपुंस्कः
"that has two men"

bahupumAn बहुपुमान् / bahupuMskaH
बहुपुंस्कः
"that has many men"

vyUDhorAH व्यूढोराः / vyUDhoraskaH व्यूढोरस्कः "(a monster) that has 2+ wide breasts"
