Add first ending to a noun when using it to address or call someone:
he rAma;lakSmaNau हे रामॱलक्ष्मणौ "hey Raama and Lakshmana" with added /au
he rAjAnaH हे राजानः "hey 3+ kings" with /jas.
he rAma हे राम "hey Raama" with /su added, then dropped by eGhrasvAtsamb...
Add first ending to a noun if there is no particular reason to give it any other ending:
rAmaz carati रामश्चरति "rAma walks"
rAma:: iti vizrutaH राम इति विश्रुतः 'widely known as "rAma"'
