vRddhetkosalAjAdAJ JyaG

वृद्धेत्कोसलाजादाञ्ञ्यङ् ONPANINI 41171

/JyaG (means descendant) after a /vRddhi word, i , kosala कोसल, ajAda अजाद, (when they are the names of countries and kSatriyas).

This debars /aJ.

AmbhaSThyaH आम्भष्ठ्यः "king / son of AmbaSTha आम्बष्ठ"

kausalyaH कौसल्यः "king of kosala कोसल"

The f is formed by yaGazcAp.

See also /SyaG.

Shouldn't the /Git in /JyaG prevent (by kGitica), the /vRddhi caused by the /Jit (by acoJNiti)?

No. If /pANini had wanted no /vRddhi, then the suffix would have been ya — adding a /Jit that causes /vRddhi and a /Git that debars it would be crazy. So this /JyaG does cause /vRddhi, and the /Git must serve some other purpose.

Which other purpose?

Afaik, this /Git allows the word yaG यङ् to mean "/JyaG and /SyaG".
