@warning about final H

CAVEAT LECTOR

When a word in this website appears to end in r र् or in s स्, and it is followed by a pause (IOW, by anything except another Sanskrit word), the student is supposed to remember that the s स् or r र् must be pronounced as H .

Doing this I am in clear violation of the general principle write everything as you want people to read it aloud.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Remember these:

By rules sasajuSoruH and kharavasAn..., asvas अस्वस् + pause MUST be pronounced azvaH अश्वः

By rules sasajuSoruH and kharavasAn..., punar पुनर् + pause MUST be pronounced punaH पुनः

Or more simply:

no s स् r र् can ever be pronounced as s स् r र् before a pause, they all sound /H

If those are to be pronounced as H then why don't you just write azvaH अश्वः and punaH पुनः?

(1) To make my website smaller and save money in hosting

(2) To help you to remember that you must say **punaratra पुनरत्र, but **azvotra अश्वोत्र.

How does typing s स् instead of H make your site any smaller?

Because I no longer have to write "azva- अश्वॱ + /su makes azvas अश्वस्, which turns into azvaH अश्वः before a pause".
