@why the zivasUtra are called zivasUtra

The zivasUtra शिवसूत्र name comes from an old story. When a kid, /pANini was bullied by his classmates by not being a geek and having a poor memory (in those backward times no one had thought yet of bullying the smart ones because "they make us look bad"). So, under the advice of his guru's wife, he went to the himAlayaH हिमालयः to propitiate ziva शिव. There he self-bullied himself so hard, that ziva शिव took pity on him, appeared, and played his bongoes fourteen times. The sound of the bongoes stuck to /pANini's mind, and they seemed to sound like randonm letters. So he went back home doing japa जप on them, and by trying to figure out whatthey were good for, he eventually developed them into all of his grammar, and in the process he became the smartest peep ever.

This story intends to show that knowledge always comes from lots of your own effort and a small kick from God. And also that grammar is a holy thing.

And also that if you are dumb, learning grammar is like weightlifting — makes you smarter.

And now you know why people sometimes sing the zivasUtra as a sort of praying or meditation. Some even rap them.
