verbs take third person endings whenever they don't take first person or second person endings.

So, if one person that is not me and not you is cooking, we say:

pacati पचति "cooks", with the third person ending /tip.

But that person will say:

**pacAmi पचामि "I cook" with first person ending /mip

And someone that is talking to that person will say —

**pacasi पचसि "you cook" with second person ending /sip
