@use of sixth

The sixth ending means "of" or "has":

brAhmaNasya gauH ब्राह्मणस्य गौः "the brahmin has a cow"

zuklA brAhmaNasya gauH शुक्ला ब्राह्मणस्य गौः "the brahmin's cow is white"

or "for", but only in the sense of "from the viewpoint of"

pipIlikasya girir ayam पिपीलिकस्य गिरिरयम् for an ant, this is a mountain

The sixth case words nearly always linkto a noun as in the above examples, but they will also hangfrom a verb sometimes, e.g. when they mean the receiver with verbs of giving:

brAhmaNasya gAn dadAti ब्राह्मणस्य गां ददाति "gives cow to brahmin"
