The previous rule forms **yathAzakti यथाशक्ति in the sense of "according to ability", "within your power", "as well as you can", but it would also form yathAdevadattam in —

yathA devadattas tathA yajJadattah यथा देवदत्तस्तथा यज्ञदत्तह् "Yajnadatta is like Devadatta."

This rule forbids the /avyayIbhAva in that case.
