So a cloth (paTaH पटः) that has the quality of whiteness may be described as
zuklaH paTaH शुक्लः पटः
"white cloth" but not as
EWzuklatvavAn paTaH शुक्लत्ववान्पटः OR
EWzauklyavAn paTaH शौक्ल्यवान्पटः "cloth which has whiteness".
This applies to all affixes with the force of /matup, such as /vin and /ini.
Adding those affixes to words that mean "quality", such as **guNa- गुणॱ, is fine —
guNavat गुणवत् "that has good qualities".
