The /matup-meaning affixes are the /taddhita that have the meanings explained in tadasyAstyasm.... Such as /matup itself, the /vini in **tapasvin- तपस्विन्, the /ini in **balin- बलिन्.

That whimpiness makes the /vasu in **vidvas- विद्वस् undergo /samprasAraNa by vasossampras... —

vid विद् + /vasu + /matup
→ vid विद् + us उस् + /matup by this rule and vasossampras...
→ viduS विदुष्+ /matup with /Satvam
→ !**viduSmat- विदुष्मत् "in which there are sages"

It also prevents the stem of /matup and /vini from being turned into a /pada by << svAdiSvasarv..., so that there is no sasajuSoruH here —
